Mybloglog spam found in the logs

February 5, 2007 By Lyndon Antcliff

I found this referal link this morning in my stats, http://localhost/mybloglog/spamrun.php Looks like someone is running a script to spam the widget. I doubt it’s very succesful and It’s quite easy to spot who it is and log their IP number for future fun and games 😉

For ages there is no Linkbaiting service and then 5 come along all at once.

February 3, 2007 By Lyndon Antcliff

You now have a choice of 5 linkbaiting services.

  • Deleted
  • Graywolf
  • Todd Malicoat
  • SEOmoz
  • Nick Wilson

It is beyond the expertise of this humble blogger to say who offers the best service as they all operate at the highest level and can produce demonstrable results. If I had the right product to market I would love to unleash these chaps.

I’m looking forward to reading some case studies of successful campaigns.

I wish you all well in your new ventures.

When you link to me, nice things happen

February 2, 2007 By Lyndon Antcliff

I came across a juicy seo tactic over at Search Engine Journal, by Loren Baker. It goes like this, if someone links to you. Go and Stumble them.

  • It indirectly sends traffic to your site
  • It rewards people who link to you
  • If you have quality content other stumblers will stumble you

From now on, if you link to me and your site is not spamola crapola, I will stumble you. This is not an ordinary Stumble, oh no. I have a juicy account that has been building for ten months and tends to send a few hundred people as soon as I Stumble.

British Esquire Magazine announce the Marketing trends of 2007

February 2, 2007 By Lyndon Antcliff

That well known SEO magazine Esquire said that The crowd are going to rule our lives in 2007.

The crowd being the millions of people at Digg, Reddit, Stumble-upon (Netscape and Delicious didn’t get mentioned).

It’s always strange when the stuff in our little world gets splattered across the old time media. No mention of Linkbait though. Only a matter of time.

Note:
Esquire magazine is a British publication for the more discerning gentleman.

Is your Blog "Link Lite"?

February 1, 2007 By Lyndon Antcliff

Rob Watts has taken the decision to remove the “no-follow” tag from his blog. After reading about what Andy Beal and Andy Beard were up to.

Brilliant idea.

What is the point of the “no-follow”? It does not stop comment spam so lets get rid of it and reward people who make comments.

I manage my comments, so I don’t need a disincentive. I want people to comment and I want them to be rewarded with a proper like instead of this “link lite” crap.

I will be removing the no follow, so in future you will get a nice, meaty link back to your blog. Hey, as Jason Calacanis says, “everybody has got to eat”.

OK, I don’t know where to start with the removal so it may take a day or two.
